A three days training course on the Evaluation of Health Surveillance Systems (including economics) was held by CIRAD (Dr. Marisa Peyre) at National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Hanoi, Vietnam from 13-15th of June 2016.
Many participants from CIRAD, FAO, DAH, NIVR, OUCRU, HSPH, HCMUAF, VNUA came to attend to the training.
The course objective would be to give participants the necessary knowledge and understanding of basic principles and methods for evaluation of health surveillance to plan and conduct an evaluation.
At the end of the training participants mastered the vocabulary of evaluation and understood the main concepts that are needed to explain the different steps in the evaluation cycle, to definean evaluation question, to select evaluation attributes and assessment methods.
Several examples and hands-on exercises have been studied in order for the participants to apply and adapt what they have learned. The last day of the workshop would be especially dedicated to economic evaluation concepts and methods with practical application to the training examples and to the participants own case studies.
