Revasia News Seminars / Workshops Revasia Workshop
CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Center for International Development) in collaboration with The Vietnam National Institute of Veterinary Research (NIVR) organized the annual REVASIA research program workshop on 15th April at Vietnam National Institute of Veterinary Research , with a specific focus on moving “from research to policy decision” to discuss on the added value and expected impact of the program.
The main objective of REVASIA research program was to develop innovative tools and methodologies for the evaluation and design of efficient animal health surveillance (and control) systems. REVASIA activities in Vietnam were implemented in collaboration between NIVR, the Vietnam National University of Hanoi (VNUA), The National Institute for Animal Sciences (NIAS), the Department of Animal Health (DAH) and CIRAD. The project has identified the most relevant tool(s) and method(s) to be applied to specific contexts of South East Asian countries: (i) qualitative tools to assess strengths and weaknesses of surveillance process and corrective action, (ii) quantitative tools to evaluate the performance of the systems (based on simulation and mathematical modeling), (iii) methods for socio-economic evaluation of the systems based on participatory approaches, (iv) innovative design for sustainable surveillance of zoonotic risks. The main results of REVASIA activities in Vietnam were presented along with proposal for recommendations towards improvement of the systems . Working group discussion was performed after the presentations to review and discuss feasibility of the recommendations and to develop action plan to ensure uptake and implementation.
